Yashir Pinto Signs with FC Edmonton on Loan Deal
FC Edmonton is pleased to welcome Yashir Pinto to the team.
Chilean striker, Pinto, has been playing soccer in his native country for the past 10 years. Starting off at Colo-Colo in 2001, he played his youth soccer with the team until 2008 when he broke into the first team ranks. He played with Colo-Colo until 2010, where he had 18 Ligue and Cup appearances, won the Copa Chile with the team in 2008 and 2009 season, and won several other Chilean championships.
In 2010 he was sent out on loan to Ñublense, another Chilean team. During the 2010 and 2011 season with this club, he made 20 Ligue and Cup appearances. However, where Pinto was really able to establish himself was with the U-20 Chilean Men’s National team.
During his time with the U-20 national team, Pinto played and scored in three major South American tournaments throughout 2010-2011, the Aerosur Cup, the Córdoba Cup and the South American U-20 Championship. In 2008, Pinto also participated in the summer Olympics in Sydney where he played against Australia and China. The most recent tournament where Pinto featured with the U-20 team was during the South American Youth Championship in Peru to try to qualify for the 2012 Olympics in London and to the U-20 World Cup in Colombia.
Pinto has signed a one-year loan contract from Colo-Colo and has started training with the team.
