EDMONTON, AB. – FC Edmonton can confirm that Norwegian midfielder Sabri Khattab has departed the club following the conclusion of the 2017 North American Soccer League (NASL) Spring Season.

The 27-year-old made 11 appearances during his time with the Eddies, including nine substitute appearances after signing with FC Edmonton this past February.

“The move suits everybody and everyone at FC Edmonton thanks Sabri for his time with the club,” FC Edmonton head coach Colin Miller said. “I think he definitely improved from when we first saw him in pre-season back in February as his fitness levels, the speed of his play and his defensive awareness all improved.

“He’d be the first to admit those were areas that he was probably getting away with at his previous club. We addressed those issues and saw a terrific player for FC Edmonton.”

Khattab returns to his home nation of Norway where prior to joining FC Edmonton the midfielder scored nine goals in 96 appearances over four seasons with Bryne FK of the Norwegian second division. Khattab moved to his hometown club of Kvik Halden FK in 2016.

FC Edmonton sends its thanks and best wishes to Sabri and his family moving forward.
