Burt Signs for the Blues

FC Edmonton announce today the signing of attacking midfielder Chad Burt. As per club policy, the details of his contract are not disclosed.

“I am really excited to get Chad signed with the club,” said FC Edmonton head coach Colin Miller. “He can play anywhere across the park or in attacking areas. Chad has settled in really quickly and we are very excited to see how he works out.”

Burt played for the University of Tampa Bay from 2005 to 2006, and during his years in college he also played for the Colorado Rapids U23 side. He signed with FC Tampa Bay (now Tampa Bay Rowdies) in March 2010. Most recently, Burt played for Myresjö Vetlanda FK a Division 2 side in Sweden.

Burt joined FC Edmonton on trial while the team played in Victoria for the July preseason. The FC Edmonton technical staff were able to get a good look at him during both the Victoria Highlander FC and Seattle Sounders FC match.

“Ever since I joined FC Edmonton, the players and the staff have been very professional and very welcoming,” said Burt. “I’m looking forward to being a part of the Eddies for the Fall Season.”

FC Edmonton fans will have a chance to see Burt and the rest of the Eddies in action on Sunday, July 13 when FC Edmonton plays Ottawa Fury FC (4 p.m. MT KO). The match, presented by West Edmonton Mall, will be played at Commonwealth Stadium to accommodate a delay in the Clarke field turf installation. The match will also be broadcast live on City TV Edmonton. Tickets start at just $10 in the YMCA Family Fun Zone and are available at all Edmonton YMCA locations. All other tickets can be purchased at or by calling 780.700.2600.
